NATIONAL DOUGHNUT DAY: JUNE 3RD
June 3, 2011 is the 73rd anniversary of National Doughnut Day. A day marked to commemorate the 1938 fundraiser for the Chicago Salvation Army, to help those in need during the Great Depression. In addition, it is a day to honor the Army “Lassies” of World War I, who served doughnuts to soldiers. (Kevin Fagan “A holey holiday” SF Chronicle.
